RoHS Compliance FAQ. RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products (known as EEE). This means that equipment within its scope must carry a CE marking if it is offered for sale or placed on the market in the EU. All CE marking Directives also require that the product has a unique, traceable declaration of conformity.
